HEXIT is a small arena hack'n'slash on a hexagonal grid, drawn in 1980s-arcade pixel art with a fake isometric camera. Every wave is exactly three minutes:
- enemies pour in from eight gates on the edge of a cave and never stop;
- after one minute the arena starts shrinking, one ring every fifteen seconds;
- after two minutes an exit opens at the centre. Stand on it for three seconds and choose: extract with your points and gold, or continue into a new cave with tougher enemies and loot worth more.
Every kill is points. The gold you carry out is points too, but if you fall the gold is gone and only the kills remain. The whole game is one question: do I leave now?
Between waves there's a camp: two hands (one-handed weapons stack, shields parry), a belt of up to four vigor skills paid by hitting things, three spells on right-click paid with mana that regenerates, an enemy bestiary for the coming wave, and a merchant who sells supplies and weapons for the same gold that would have been your score.
Controls: hold the mouse on a tile to walk there; hold on an enemy to hit it at your weapon's rhythm (clicking faster does nothing). 1 to 4 belt skills, 5 to 7 spells, right-click casts, V wide view, F fullscreen.
Runs are stateless: one run, one score. There's a global leaderboard; registering (email + nickname) is only needed to put your score on it. No ads, nothing to buy.
Beta. Solo project, a few months in. The server recomputes every score from the action log, so if you find a way to cheat it, tell me. There's a Feedback tab in the camp that comes straight to me; comments here work too. What I most want to know: is the three-minute loop fun, and is extract/continue a real decision?
